WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Rand Paul issued the following statement today opposing the FY2016 “omnibus” spending bill:
“Since coming to Washington, I have voted against every spending bill that continues to add to our nation’s mountain of debt, and this bill is no different. By adding $700 million of new debt this year, this bill will continue to fund President Obama’s priorities such as Obamacare, Planned Parenthood, and sanctuary cities. The 2,242-page bill will do nothing to stop the flow of refugees from terrorist countries and expand big government’s intrusion into every American’s internet activity. I cannot and will not support any legislation that adds debt on top of debt and enables President Obama’s lawlessness. Ultimately, this reckless spending will only be hurting the hard-working families in Kentucky and across the nation, and the American people deserve better,” Sen. Paul said.
