WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) issued the following statement honoring the annual March for Life:
“Each life comes to us fragile, a precious gift from our Creator we are entrusted with protecting. Today, the March for Life will remind a government with no shortage of passionate articulators of its responsibility to defend those who cannot plead their own cause. It is a challenge we must heed. May this be the year America stands with the innocent and renews its dedication to the ‘self-evident’ right to life we proclaimed to the world at our founding.”
In January 2017, Dr. Paul reintroduced his Life at Conception Act (S. 231) to guarantee equal protection for each unborn life. The legislation does not amend or interpret the Constitution but simply relies on the 14th Amendment, which specifically authorizes Congress to enforce its provisions.
