WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) released the following statement after U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell announced the Senate would take up the bipartisan First Step Act:

“Having led the fight on criminal justice reform for the past six years, I applaud Senator McConnell for scheduling this very important vote. This is bipartisan, has the support of President Donald J. Trump, and, simply put, makes common sense. I have worked in a bipartisan fashion and introduced six different pieces of criminal justice legislation to help bring much-needed reform to our system, and I look forward to passing this in the Senate as soon as possible.”
